2005 SAUVIGNON BLANC, CEDAR LANE VINEYARD Wine Review Online, Robert Whitley September 2006 89 points This is veteran winemaker Dan Kleck's personal venture. He makes the wines at a facility in Paso Robles and his production is small, so the best way to find his promising hand-crafted wines is through the website at www.silverstonewines.com. The '05 Sauvignon Blanc is from a cool region in Monterey County and that shows itself in the fresh, lean, mineral edge. Complexity and richness emerge on the back palate, giving this Sauvignon another dimension.

Patterson's Beverage Journal, Anthony Dias Blue September, 2006 88 points In the 70's, Dan Kleck helped put Long Island on the winemaking map, today he makes this beauty (among others); tangy grapefruit flavors and a fresh, nervy finish.

The Grapevine - THE TRIBUNE, Laurie Daniel August 2, 2006 In the refreshing category is the 2005 Silver Stone Sauvignon Blanc, produced by a Paso Robles winery from Arroyo Seco grapes. It's crisp and aromatic, with honeydew melon and gooseberry flavors.

The Grapevine - THE TRIBUNE, Laurie Daniel August 2, 2006 If you're looking for a bigger, richer chardonnay, there's the 2004 Silver Stone Chardonnay from Bien Nacido Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley. It has plenty of juicy lemon and pineapple flavors, with a layer of toasty oak that builds some toward the finish.
2003 CHARDONNAY, BIEN NACIDO VINEYARD, SANTA MARIA VALLEY Wine Spectator November 15, 2005 90 points Bursts with ripe apple and tropical fruit. The flavors are smoky and buttery and show remarkable complexity, and there’s a shot of acidity that neatly ties up the fruit and light oak on the finish. Drink now through 2008. – J.L.

2004 PINOT NOIR, CEDAR LANE VINEYARD 2007 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition BRONZE Medal
The Tribune, Local Wine Picks, Laurie Daniel January 3, 2007 Silver Stone Wines is based in Paso Robles, but its 2004 Cedar Lane Vineyard Pinot Noir is from the Arroyo Seco appellation in Monterey County. (Owner/winemaker Dan Kleck worked in Monterey in the 1990s, where he became acquainted with the potential of its vineyards.) This is a fairly ripe pinot noir, but it hasn’t lost its pinot-ness. The wine offers plenty of bright cherry and raspberry fruit, along with notes of vanilla and spice and a long, supple finish. It would pair beautifully with roast chicken or a nice slab of grilled salmon.

2001 PINOT NOIR, CHUALAR CANYON VINEYARDS www.nataliemaclean.com, Nat Decants, Wine Picks July 22, 2006 Silver Stone's Chualar Vineyard is located at the foot of the Gabilan Mountains. A daily morning fog rolls in off the Pacific Ocean, which is followed by a cleansing warm, dry afternoon breeze, creating conditions that are ideal for growing Pinot Noir. Expect intense aromas of cherry, floral and vanilla tones nicely framed by cedar. It is ready to drink and will complement a pork tenderloin dish. My note: Sweet ripe red fruit. Generous and gentle.

Dense and chewy, it offers up a heady concoction of blackberries, licorice, new saddle leather, and pepper. Full-bodied, with a beautiful texture.

The wine offers ample blackberry fruit wrapped in generous chocolatey oak. It's smooth and easy to drink, with some tannins that kick in on the finish.
